The Taj Mahal is beautiful, it’s true.
People say it shows a love so deep and new.
A husband built it, sad because his wife had died.
A marble tear, they say, with nowhere left to hide.
But think a bit. Kings in the olden days,
They built big things to show their power in many ways.
The Taj is grand, it cost a lot of gold.
It showed the world how rich and strong they could be told.
His wife, Mumtaz, he loved her, we believe.
But was the Taj just for her, or something to achieve?
To make his kingdom famous, for all the world to see?
Love and power mixed, like in a history.
So look at the Taj, and yes, it’s lovely there.
But maybe it’s not just about a sad man’s prayer.
It’s also about a king, his strength, his land, his name.
Love is part of it, but not the only game.
The Taj is great, a wonder to behold.
But stories sometimes have more than just one fold.
