They tell a boy, “Donβt shed a tear,
You must be strong, you must not fear.”
They say a man should feel no pain,
Like a desert that never needs the rain.
But is the heart inside a stone?
Or is it flesh, and blood, and bone?
The tears that fall are proof to show,
That he has feelings deep below.
He is a brother, a father, a son,
His work for others is never done.
He carries a load upon his back,
And hides the parts that start to crack.
Why is he told he cannot fail?
Why must he hide behind a veil?
If a womanβs tears are seen as right,
Why must a man hide his out of sight?
Tears don’t care if you’re a girl or boy,
They come with sadness, they come with joy.
To show your hurt is not a weakness,
Itβs just your heart in all its deepness.
He needs a hand, he needs some care,
He needs a soul who will be there.
For a man is human, through and through,
With a heart that feels, just like mine and you.
