Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, and all other gender identities that exist in this glorious spectrum of human diversity, I present to you: the quintessential explanation for everything from subpar performance to outright incompetence – “Because she’s a girl.”
It’s a classic, isn’t it?
Like a well-worn blanket of condescension, it’s been draped over countless female shoulders since time immemorial.
Need a reason why she didn’t get the promotion? She’s a girl, obviously.
Can’t figure out why she’s struggling with that heavy box? Well, duh, she’s a girl.
And don’t even get me started on the mind-boggling logic behind the belief that women somehow possess an innate inability to parallel park.
It’s almost as if someone, somewhere, decided that being born with a certain set of chromosomes automatically disqualifies one from basic human capabilities. How utterly fascinating! This groundbreaking theory must have been the result of years of rigorous scientific research, right? Or perhaps it was divinely inspired, a revelation etched into stone tablets alongside the Ten Commandments.
“She wants to be an engineer? Ha! That’s cute. Women and math? Like oil and water, darling.”
“Lifting that? Are you kidding? She’s a girl. She’s supposed to be delicate and dainty.”
“Understand quantum physics? She’s probably better off sticking to her knitting.”
“A woman CEO? Please. They’re too emotional to make tough decisions.”
I’m starting to sense a pattern here. A pattern of breathtaking ignorance and willful disregard for human potential.
But hey, who am I to question the wisdom of the ages?
After all, I’m just a girl !
